Plus those trucks are hot. A chop shop can make a lot of cash off a truck like that, either parting out or doing a re-vin.

MT report: Chevy, Ford, Toyota lots I noticed in last few days are very sparse. They park them in bunches of a few, with huge spacing between each car, spread over lot to make lots like full. Just makes them look weird and sparse. Every dealer had more other brand used than their brand new, so Toyota looked like Dodge dealer, Ford like Chevy and Toyota dealer, etc.
Craigslist has three year older and 90,000 more mile comparable pickups to my 2019 for more than I paid new for mine. Yet vintage Poncho's that aren't LS modified are in a slump.

You must be really really hard on vehicles. I always drive GM vehicles and have never had problems like that... and I drive like an A-hole.

I have to Give Laura GMC credit for still selling trucks at invoice & many of them with some discounts. Compared to what they usually have in inventory, they are basically empty lotted as well. They are used to having hundreds of trucks on their lot, not a couple dozen.
Now Here is another good sample of where things are at. both of these are 2021 AT4 gas engines. Really? asking $15,000 more than a new one? Its almost comical

By the way, anybody know how the auto manufactures are even surviving this almost non existent mfg capacity?
They all were about to go bankrupt in 2009 before the big government bailouts & they were making a ton of vehicles back then. I can't seem to get that 12 year old memory out of my head.

There is a Ram dealer here that has a few new/leftover 2020 1500 models that they are offering decent discounts on (i.e. more than enough to offset model year change).

With all the people moving to Montana, I am seeing more than a few pretty new 2WD full size pickups on the roads here. Very unusual to see typically. Dealers up here do not ever have new 2WD on lots, they never order them, only 4WD. Do dealers where you guys live stock new 2WD trucks (when they have them?) Are they common any more?

In TX we have 2wd trucks everywhere. Most of us don’t need 4wd

I live in a snowy state and we still see probably 30% of the trucks 2wd, mine is 2wd. Locking diff, the right tires, throw 300 lbs in the back, typically no problems. In fact I've been able to go up hills where 4wd can't with no locking diff. as they spin one front and one rear. Course 4wd WITH a locking diff works pretty good.

Harder to find a 2 wheel drive truck in Wisconsin. I’m out of state at the moment, and while driving on the interstate the other day I passed a 2 wheel drive Suburban. I couldn’t ID it at first because it looked a bit “off” to me. I thought Chevy started making a Tahoe again or something. Finally figured out it was 2 wheel drive. I don’t remember ever seeing a new 2 wheel drive Suburban.

Went on Chevrolet.com and the 2wd LS trim Suburban is still available with a $54k base price.

In Florida 2WD is common. My Grand Cherokee with towing package is 2WD & is worth 1 MPG.
By happenstance have never had a 4WD or AWD car, pick-up truck, or a F*rd. |

That’s exactly where I saw the 2WD Suburban.
