I have 4 prints (remember them?) of this car. They were mailed to me about 20-25 years ago. I had a little 70-73 Formula webpage. It had "Readers Rides" section that was why these pics were sent to me. I lost the name of the owner then, and the data file for the webpage is gone also. Wish I had all the reader rides pics from back then. I had pics from all over the world, even one with a Formula on a flat open barge being transported. Damn.
But I remember this one was all hi po option RA one. If anyone owns this car, you should have the pics. And if you sent me the pics, remind me!

That looks like the three speed car that was in HPP many moons ago.
I probably have most images from your web page backed up on my desktop, or cdr's - the main computer I use right now is a surface which has no disc drive so that puts a downer on trying to retrieve files from cdr

It was taken along old Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, MI, during Dream Cruise week, as I recall. Yes, original RAIII 4-speed. I believe its owner sold it out of state shortly after that.

I thought of this thread when Dennis shared a picture of a 70 Formula at this year's nationals;
This, like the car which is the subject here, is an auto, console, a/c, and clock car with deluxe interior:

The Formula, it has its original engine. The previous owner was going to make it a street/strip car.

I was filling my truck up at the gas station a couple miles from my house yesterday when the car in the below pics went driving by. Lousy cell phone pic, but in person the car looked great. Coronado Gold '70 Esprit.
I've never seen the car before. Heck, I've lived in this town for 22 years and never seen another '70 Firebird on the road here!

It's been awhile but the car is running after sitting for almost 10 years. It is sitting 3 hours away from where i live and a friend of mine is doing all the work. https://youtu.be/GuusOKGUAo0

I have no idea what's in the engine, i know it has roller rockers, i think it has a small roller cam, 3 in exhaust, it came with a 9 inch rear with 4.10 gears and put the 3.31 12 bolt back in it. I'm going to see how i like the Torker II and Holley 750. More than likely i go with a RPM and a Q-jet down the road.

Well, some changes happened to the Formula. The whole drive tran was pulled, replaced the center section of the trunk whothe fuel cell was. After posting some pics of the car on FB I found the 2nd owner who was racing the car. I now have pic of the car back in the 80s.
I got the story of the original owner, she was middle aged when she bought and in the early 80s she moved Pennsylvania and on the way and A/C went and decided to sell the car after they got settled. After the friend ( Kyle) open the engine up, it ended having a HC 02 cam with 1.65 rockers. It ran 12.70s with a 4.10 and stock convertor with the Torker II and Holley 830. I decided to go more stockish with it, put a up to date 068 cam in it, RA manifolds, 1970 068 intake and a correct 1970 Q-jet. I hope to run it in the muscle car race in Florida late this year/ early next year. |

This is a really nice build, are the steel wheels gold or black? I like the look of the gold steel wheels posted earlier.
