Question 63 cat rear wheels/ tires?

Doing a tribute sd 63 cat and getting to the best rear steel wheel/ tire sizes combo without cutting wheel wells. (Maybe trim lip though). I would like to put a vintage white wall cheater slick tire on the rear......suggestions?

Even thought the title references “‘66 Bonneville”, I believe there is some info in the following thread related to what fits on the pre-‘65 cars.

biggest tire on 66 bonneville?

We ran M/T cheater slicks on stock steel wheels in the 1960's and 70's on our 1962 Catalina with no cutting. They were only 7 inches wide and had red and white side walls.

Wheel Vintiques has the stock steel wheels for the 5 x 5 bolt circle. There called Series 62 Summit sells them. Or you could make a set from some old wheels that are riveted. Buy new hoops and have them welded..

What do you consider “stock” steel wheels? Wheel Vintiques wheels do not allow the use of correct “stock” dog dish caps plus they will not clear calipers on a disk brake conversion.

I didn't necessarily mean stock 1962 Pontiac. I mean we used a steel wheel off any car we could find that had the correct bolt pattern. In fact I used 1957 Mercury 15" wheels on my 1963 Pontiac for my snow tires. Later Pontiac 15" wheels will fit and most likely clear your disc brakes.
