Default '64 GTO with Factory AC - Fuse Box Questions

'64 GTO with factory Air Conditioning.

Replaced original dash harness/fuse box (4310-F) with repro one from M&H.

Noticed for the Radio fuse, there are (3) fuse clamps.
Assuming only the first (2) are used (short 9 amp fuse?).
Is the 3rd fuse clamp unused since AC has it's own separate harness with an inline fuse? On a non-AC car, there are (4) fuse clamps for (2) fuses. Radio & Heater.

Per M&H, they used the last/latest design rev. from Pontiac in '64 which is why their version has a 9 amp fuse vs the 4310-F which has a 2.5 amp fuse.

Anyone have pix of a factory AC fuse box; which fuse goes in the Radio slot?

Thanks!

John, there are some older threads that discussed the '64 (and also the different '65) fuse blocks.

Although the '64 Shop Manual contained a picture of the 4310-D fuse block, it seems that the vast majority of 64s (and maybe all) were built with the 4310-F fuse block. A/C or non-A/C didn't matter.

The 4310 represents the last 4 digits of the full part no.

Despite the picture in the '64 Shop Manual, nobody seems to have ever found an actual 4310-D in a '64.

The p/n changed for '65 along with some of the graphics..

I didn't compare closely, but I believe your repro fuse block is not correct for '64 but rather looks to be the '65 style.

Review this thread for more.

Looks to me that your original 4310-F is missing a a fuse clip (pic looks like the plastic broke out).

It occurs to me that the factory may have purposely broken that clip out for an A/C build, maybe to disable a circuit not needed for A/C builds?

The repro fuse block may be interchangeable between '64 and '65, the graphics would be incorrect but if it works, no harm.
