NEW 455 SD Trans Am
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q8u6BNkO68&app=desktop
This is one awesome car. 2017. Camaro eat yer heart out. Tho I must admit it's a Chevy LS engine reworked to a 455 SD. And the one 1000 HP SD TA engine made will eat any America made car out there..... Chevy, Chrysler, or Ford. Too bad it's not a real deal Pontiac. They said in the video that only 50 455 SD TAs will be made. If I had the money.....

I wonder how many different versions of late model Camaros with faux T/A bodywork are out there...it seems like dozens of companies have come up with them, but I've never heard of anyone ever actually buying one.

Man, that is quite the machine. Extremely well thought out. Thanks for passing it along, Gary.
Seems to me that "Fluffy" (Gabriel Iglesias) bought one of the Bandit versions. Eat your heart out, Demon...

Awesome car. They don't say anything about the price, but it's got to be well over $100K. That's about $1000/horsepower.

It is a Camaro. Aftermarket body work and badges does not make it a Pontiac. It's about as much of a Pontiac as that Beaumont in the other thread. Slapping Firebird fenders and taillight panel onto a Camaro does not make it a Firebird, regardless of generation.
I personally find it appalling. Yes, it is obviously a performance car, but that in no way makes it a Pontiac, or appealing in any way. Only my opinion of course, but I find it ugly as hell, and in fact worse than the new Camaros which I also don't like. The last Firebirds that mattered had Pontiac V8s in them. |

I think it looks fantastic and the performance is over the top. Very well executed.

That's what can come from a lot of cool conceptual ideas to fruition. Amazing details and production. They went well beyond what GM would have done to make a cool car!
Makes the Trans Am still relevant today to go to that process. Car looks, sounds and performs too!

These new ones make my 1977 look that much better! As with the Challenger, these new pony cars, while powerful, are looking extremely bloated.

I think theyre nice looking cars, and I'm sure you cant beat the performance, but its still a Camaro! For the asking price, and I bet its high, I would buy an early Trans Am and have a real Pontiac.

Nice car, no doubt.
If I dropped an LS under the hood of my F150 or my wife's Highlander, put a bird on the hood, I could call them a Trans Am?

It's not a Firebird but it is about as much a Trans Am as a 2002 model.
I like it, it actually looks more Factory production ready versus the other kits out there.

I personally like these cars. If Pontiac didn't take a dump, this is probably what the new T/A would look like. The 5th/6th gen body looks really good with T-tops. I'm surprised they flow so well!

It may be a Trans Am but it’s not a Pontiac Trans Am.

If you ask me, for something to be called a Pontiac, it needs to be a Pontiac. Different body, different engine, different interior, etc., than its Chevy counterpart. Since no true Pontiac engine has been produced for more than three decades, I don't consider anything produced since to be a true Pontiac. Performance is extremely easy to come by nowadays if you have some money to spend. If I'm going to drop $100k on a car, it's going to be on a true Pontiac that will continue to be a true Pontiac when finished. Not a bloated, ugly abomination with badges. Fact is that this car was built aftermarket, so to me it's no different than someone at home building a clone out of something that is far from the real thing. Again, not denying the performance.. if they simply built a super Camaro, I wouldn't be here rambling about it. |

Thanks for posting the video. I like to keep up with what's new out there. I would be really interested in seeing the creators business plan for the company. I am always fascinated by that aspect. I would be interested in how many they need to sell at what price to break even. By the time you buy a top of the line Camaro, bolt and glue your custom "Pontiac do dads" on it and re-sell it, you have quite an investment. Not to mention the dozen or more competitors out there doing similar things, and the competition from the gang of new customizers and tuners out there. Just seems like a crowded market. But as they say the cream does ride to the top and this looks like a nicely done conversion. Wish they would have decided to call it an LS455 and left the whole SD-455 thing out of it. It has nothing to do with Pontiac, Pontiac engines, or any type of SD program. With a new mid-engine Corvette coming in a few months with all it will have to offer for well under 100K, it seems like a hard sell. But there must be some buyers out there that don't want to put the time, effort, dollars into owning a real Pontiac, which would be an old car. Seems the "Modern old car" is all the rage right now. I would think any of these kit cars would be a horrible investment down the road. But who really knows.

I think that a Pontiac is a car made by, marketed by, and sold by the Pontiac brand of General Motors, regardless of the motor. This applies to ALL Trans Ams made up until the demise of the Pontiac brand. I guess a sub category could be a "True Pontiac" that has a motor manufactured by Pontiac. These "hybrid" trans ams look to be very nice cars, but I just cant get on board with them being trans ams. I have even seen some made up to be GTO's and judges. Guess I'm an old fashioned purist, but i don't get it.

for me, to call it a Super Duty 455 and not be done in a 1973 look is just wrong... It should even be buccaneer red!
