height of a 1967 GTO
Wondering what is the correct height or factory height of a 1967 GTO. The front height and the rear. I installed new springs on the front and back both listed for a 1967 GTO from Ame's but the car seems to set high.

The better way to measure ride height in the rear is to gauge between the top of the axle tube and the frame. Removes the variables of tire diameter and inflation; and the condition of the body bushings.
In front, the similar method is to gauge the distance from the center of the lower control arm bushings to some point on the lower ball joint. Again, dispenses with numerous variables. The chart for the various sub-models using these sort of measurements is in my '68 Chevelle/ElCamino service manual. I'd be surprised if it wasn't in the Pontiac manual as well. |

This is a snip from the electronic version of the 1966 Pontiac Shop Manual. It shows the "unloaded" overall height of a 66 GTO as 53.1" with stock tires. Zazarine restoration guide says 1966 & 1967 GTO's share same basic dimensions.

For your reference, I took some measurements of my '67 hardtop, AC, PS, PB car's front, rear, and roof heights. Car had new body bushings, poly urethane control arm bushings in the front, stock rubber bushings in the rear, 1/4 tank of gas, Eaton MC3474 front springs, Moog 5409 rear springs, P21570R14 tires inflated to 30psi., all installed in 2018.
