I need a new larger shifter boot. I had to open up the tunnel a little. Who makes them similar to the original one?

Its a shame American Powertrain has not yet figured out how to make a shifter with the offset tower (as opposed to the offset adapter piece pictured). It would save a lot of us from cutting our tunnels when the shift tower comes up thru the shifter hole

For shifter boot look at the 70’s CJ jeep 4x4 transfer boots. They are 4” wide by 7” long. Or close to that. I used it as the tunnel boot to seal, has a internal metal ring that helps secure it.

I've talked with two people here locally who have been dissatisfied with the quality of the mechanical speedometer adapter that was supplied by their vendor. Both experienced oil leaks from the adapter. One gentleman was able to source a different adapter from a local speedometer repair shop that solved the leaking.
Has anyone else experienced this?

On a TKO??
The only piece you need for a retro swap in a GM vehicle is a simple short cable that adapts a GM speedo cable to the Ford style speedo gear setup. It just has a simple gear attached to the end of the cable and it's housing is sealed with an o-ring to the trans itself. It seals like any other speedo gear setup in any stick or auto trans, just a simple o-ring. I've never had any issue with them leaking. Now I have had one instance where the Ford style speedo cable leaked some fluid that came through the crimped portion of the cable, but that was on a complete Ford cable on a Ford vehicle. That was an easy fix, I just used a short piece of adhesive heat shrink over the sleeve, problem solved. But I've never had that issue with the short adapter used for GM swaps and I've done dozens of those. |

Ordered the American Powertrain TKX kit 1/14/22...........the last day of their holiday sale.
At that tiime, Ross said their was around a 2 1/2 week backlog due to the amount of orders coming in. Should be finalizing the package this week! I can't decide whether or not to go with the white lightening shifter upgrade or not. I'll be using a manual console in the 65 LeMans.......... ( any input would be greatly appreciated! ) To the OP, Ross is very knowledgeable and more than willing to answer questions throughout the process. I'm quite impressed with the customer service at American Powertrain..............something that seems to have really dropped off these days.

I recommend the white lightening shifter. I've used it along with a couple other shifters and by far the white lightening is my favorite with much more adjustability and versatility. It shifts pretty darn nice too.

Yeah, the cable and speedo setup would be the same, nothing has changed in that regard between the TKO and the TKX.
