This is what I look for in engines built here, plus the wide LSA produces good vacuum at idle, right off idle and excellent street manners.

Butler sells this cam, pretty sure it around .520/.540" lift with 1.5 rockers.

It would work fine in a 428 built with iron heads provided you had at least 10 to 1 compression, closer to 10.5 would be even better........

Cliff,
Any idea why that torque has that big hump to it? This shows that torque curve and a torque from another dyno sheet you posted which I believe was a SD455.

Is that the 114 or 112 LSA? Also, was that with 1.5 rockers?

Just asking because that's the cam I'm using in the new motor with 112 LSA and 1.5 rockers.

Thanks.

Don't remember the rockers used, engine wasn't done here and it's been a couple of years ago.

I think we figured out that they weren't running enough fuel pressure as the dyno shop believed the myth that Q-jets can't take much more than 5psi. So most likely is sucked the bowl a little low then it recovered.........

I have been very happy with this camshaft I got from Kaufman in my 428. Almost exact same as the original stump puller. With fine tuning getting an easy 475hp, and 20 mpg with my TKX. This cam is the same lobes as Pontiac Dude sold as the Jim Butcher Saturday night special. Very streetable, I have 14” of vacuum and idles right at 700.

With a hydraulic roller cam you will most likely need longer valves, new valve springs retainers and locks, roller cam (not cheap), BOP composite gear for the distributor and last but not least the hydraulic roller lifters. I would not cheap out with these as their are tons of problems with people using inferior hyd roller lifters. I would go with the Johnsons (JLI-2112OPR) and they are not cheap, over $800 bucks for lifters.

The Lunati Voodoo LUN-20510712 listed below would be a good choice but if your not running headers get it custom ground on a 112 LSA

Add it all up and it's a big investment, it's a nice setup more power over a flat tappet but not cheap
