Question What does this wire go to? (68 GTO Headlight) -Pics

Working on my newly acquired 68 GTO convertible with hideaway headlights.

Pass side headlight wire loom has a black wire with orange strip thats been cut and just dangling.

Any ideas where it goes?

Thats for the cornering lights. Black/Orange on the pass side, Black/White on the drivers side. Check your PHS for the option but more than likely the factory cut it too long. Should be just a stub from the main harness.

Interesting, does the 68 GTO have cornering lights? Both front turn signal/park lights work (which are on the corners coincidentally). Don't suppose you are talking about those?

Does the heater fan have its wire?
It is a black with orange stripe.

I have pulled a few harneeses with that female end hangin
off of cars that never had cornering lights .... I think they used up some harnesses on cars without the option
still have a harness stashed and it has 50 year old masking tape folded and wrapped around both of em
off of a loaded 68 4 door hardtop... factory disc brake ac fm car ....

68 and 69 A bodies had a separate fender mounted light that lit up when the turn signal for that side was activated. It was a steady light, not flashing.
You needed a special turn signal switch and as Scott said, not all cars had the wiring included in the forward light harness.

I had the same end hanging there from my factory harness (my car does not have the cornering light option). It was a rare option. The cornering light is visible on the car in this pic.

Btw, I noticed an odd way GM handled the potential for many different forward lamp harnesses. On the GTO in 69 (68 also I imagine) they had only two harness numbers, one with Hideaways and cornering lights and the other part number for a car with neither. So, if you ordered a car with cornering lamps but no hideaways you'd get the vacuum hoses for the hideaways (or at least the hoses that were incorporated into the lamp harness). That is why hideaway cars all have the wiring for cornering lamps.
