Default Me Too

I will be leaving Syr.NY this Sunday [22nd] to drive down to Lorton VA to take the AutoTrain to Sanford Orlando.
Planning on stopping in Daytona on the 28th and hit the show.
It's to long of a trip in the GTO [3.90 gears] so I will be driving my new toy instead.
I still will be looking for the Pontiac's and SONNY'S BBQ.

The Turkey Rod Run is a local show for me. I will be at the track Friday & Saturday with my Montero Red '65 2+2. A little known event, The Gaslight Parade, takes place on Friday evening, November 27th in Ormond Beach (a few miles north of the Speedway). Presented by the Volusia Region Antique Automobile Club of America, the parade is open to vehicles from 1988 and older that have not been modified — no customs or hot rods.

The parade will begin at 7 p.m. Friday Nov. 27 at The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive (at the corner of Granada Boulevard), Ormond Beach. The parade will proceed east on Granada Boulevard, then south on Atlantic Avenue (A1A), right onto Harvard Drive (just north of Bellair Plaza), then right onto Riverside Drive and north back to The Casements. Thousands of spectators line the parade route and the event is always a highlight of my weekend.

Participating antique cars and trucks should meet at The Casements between 5 and 6:45 p.m. Friday for registration and lineup. Parade registration is free. Music by a deejay and food vendors will be part of activities before the parade. For further information:

How long have you lived in Daytona? I lived there 1979/89, South Daytona, an apartment next to the 99cent theater.

I don't partisipate in the Gaslight Parade although I'm one of those standing on the street watching each year but I do enter the Ormond Beach show on Saturday each year. Great little show

I've been going to the rod run for 8 years now and never heard about that parade. We will for sure spectate this year. Where is the Ormand Beach show held?

The show field is a city park just as you cross the bridge over the Halifax river on the north end of Ormond Beach. I can't remember the name of the street

This will be my first year checking it out. Leaving from my sisters after Turkey dinner in Orlando and spending the night in Daytona then venturing around the event on Friday. Should be a good time! Maybe I'll find a new hotrod that is actually street legal to drive...lol

Directions from the speedway to the Gaslight Parade staging area:

Take I95 north to Exit 268 State Road 40 (West Granada Blvd). Head east past US1 (Ridgewood Ave) and continue over the bridge that crosses over the Halifax River.

Once you land at the east side of the bridge, head east for two blocks and turn right on to S. Halifax Drive.

Head south on S. Halifax Drive about 1/8 mile to Casements Drive. Look for a flagman on the right to direct you to the staging area.

If you wish to avoid I95, head east on International Speedway Blvd to either Clyde Morris, Nova Road or Ridgewood Ave (US1). Take any of these roads north to W. Granada Blvd. and head east as noted above.

I suggest parking by 6:00PM to enjoy the car show prior to parade staging. Bring a flashlight. The sun sets around 5:30PM these days.

I am not familiar with this repair shop. They appear to be located just north of Fleming Ave on Young Street (US1 in Ormond).

A Google search revealed:
Orlando & Sons Repair Center Inc
569 S Yonge St
Ormond Beach, FL 32174-7539
(386) 677-9971

Had a little drama Friday. The room we had at the Plaza, the room we booked last year and even paid for, mysteriously was cancelled. And oh, sorry, they actually overbooked the place so I wonder if I'm the only one that got that call. I guess they got a higher bidder. Every year their is a big group of pop warner football players down there. I bet that has something to do with it. We got it figured out though. We will be at the Regency and will never go back to the Plaza.

But the Big Cat is ready to make its way back to Florida. Can't wait to unload it and go cruising.

No, didn't know anything about that. Besides, I've been thru that section in previous years and they have nice cars and they don't need this one bringing them down.
