I use the Avast free version, it seems to work well.

Windows comes with anti virus for free in windows 10 and 11
Not a fan of any 3rd party anti-virus software anymore.
But if it were mine I'd just do a fresh install that's the only way to completely get rid of any malware.

Trust me,it's the only real way
Good to read a post from you Bob.

I upset all apple products, you don’t need any of that stuff.

I concur with KS, Windows Defender is much better and built-in.

Instead of re-installing, you could check to see if Windows System Restore is enabled and revert your system to the day before the incident like it never happened.

Alternatively, you could primarily perform a deep scan with Defender and then a secondary offline scan with a tird party offline scanner:

Excellent, I forgot about system restore.
BTW; Apple has it's very own set of problems..
My daily driver laptop is using Linux Mint.

Might want to do a search on "Mac OS viruses" ... you'll see PLENTY.
And ... they all are the more dangerous because so many Apple users have somehow gotten the idea that they are immune.

Yep, free Malwarebytes & Defender have been my go to's for all my PC's; no issues to date. I don't really venture into unsafe places so your mileage may vary.

I'll also mention it's not a great idea to run 3rd party anti-virus programs when one is also built in and running.
It can cause problems big-time.
