Along with the other G.M. cars, Pontiac offered a power antenna option for the Tempest(GTO). The power antenna option was offered from '64 to '69 and was available from the Factory and could also be field installed at a dealership. Although it did not particularly enhance the reception of the radio, it did give height for a given station strength and the proximity of the car to a radio station.
Basically, there were three antennas produced which handled the years '64 to '69. The first one was designed to be used on the '64 and '65 Tempest series cars. It will not fit any other year and still retain any type of Factory original appearance. In addition to these two years which can be used on your GTO of '64 or '65 vintage, there exists a little known fact, that the '65 to '69 Pontiac station wagon has the same antenna, which can be used in the '64 and '65 GTO with a minimum of modification, namely the Lower quarter panel adapter, the piece which slips onto the antenna prior to slipping the antenna into the trunk and through the hole, i.e., the mating piece which rests against the inside of the quarter panel. The piece for the station wagon may be cut at an angle rather than its straight across cut and slightly shortened in length. Trial and error will allow you to produce the proper part. Other than this difference, the length and general appearance of the staion wagon antenna is the same as the unit which was designed for the Tempest.

Note you must also purchase the reproduction lower bracket and upper bezel. The wagon lower bracket is thinner, and the wagon bezel (adaptor) is wavy and thinner than the GTO.
Performance Years does carry the previously mentioned under quarter adaptor.
