Personally I like them both but the deciding factor is to have the car factory correct. Thoughts?

Oh, and yes the valance is already off the car for the correct item along with those Ram Air decals.
Would love to know the part numbers on those non painted grills.. one of my 73 Formula's ( Ascot) has silver grills, and a 72 ( Revere silver) has silver grills..

Brew, what do you mean not painted? If they are black someone painted them black. The grills are molded in a gray plastic and then painted the appropriate color.

If you want to keep them black, then keep them black. It looks good on a silver car. I'm sure at least one Formula got the Trans Am grills and it could have been yours. I'm just glad you're not going to get carried away on this restoration....

Here's a picture of the Black Car in 1985 at the time the original owner sold it, and before it was painted.

Seemed like they where black plastic when I removed them? Will take another look and also look for some part numbers. I was more concerned about my molding removal at the time which are pretty darn nice I might add.
If they're suppose to be Silver then Silver they will be.

Bob, love that white wall old fashion look. Appears to be sporting a metal valance, no rear spoiler, and those tail pipes ahhhhh belonged to a Vega perhaps

Good eye, but I prefer to think the tailpipe came from an Astre. I'm working on the valance problem. I've got a good lead on a guy, who knows a guy, who might know where a valance can be procured.

Looks like she walked right by that second gen and went for the motor coach or forth gen???

Will went across the street and inspected those grills. Definitely painted and the part numbers are 485265 left and 485264 right.
So much for the mystery guys. This will allow me to make yet another correction which is what its all about in my book.
Thanks for all the input and assistance.

Just to add, my family's original 72 Formula had all silver grills. The 72 I have now was and still is all silver.

Default NOS '72 Trans Am Grilles

I realize this is an old post but I thought these photos were meaningful to the discussion and a good future reference.
