Thumbs up 8th All-GM Oktoberfest @ Silver Springs Park in Ocala, FL October 4th 2014!

The 8th Annual All-GM Oktoberfest at the beautiful Silver Springs State Park in Ocala, Florida will take place Saturday, October 4th 2014. For those wanting to make a weekend out of it, Friday activities include a cruise from Ocala to Cedar Key Friday morning plus NPD's 200-plus car collection will be open for viewing on Friday 8 am-5 pm. The Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing is about 10 miles south off I-75 if you need even more car stuff before heading home.

A little background on Silver Springs and the show to give you an idea of what it entails:

2006 marked the first year NPD and Silver Springs were able to combine forces to host the inaugural Oktoberfest show. Since then we’ve experienced great turnouts for the show with several hundred examples of GM-powered rides, early and late from bone-stock to highly modified. Always heralded as a great alternative to a parking lot show, the lush grounds and glass bottom boats at Silver Springs State Park provide a family-fun setting that’s hard to beat. PLEASE NOTE: As of October 1st 2013, the State of Florida regained operational-control of Silver Springs Park, and changed the park’s fee structure and attractions considerably. Please check out http://www.floridastateparks.org/sil...gs/default.cfm for more on the park, including recent changes. We will also have several select manufacturers in attendance to display their latest products and answer questions.

The show also incorporates a cruise to Cedar Key from NPD’s main warehouse in Ocala on Friday morning October 3rd. Participants start gathering around 8 am, and all are welcome to tour/browse NPD’s extensive private car and truck collection (200 cars and trucks) before a short driver’s meeting detailing the cruise around 9-9:30 am, then the cruise departs. After a short trip up Interstate 75, cruisers exit and then travel back roads through Ocala’s horse farm country at easy driving speeds on the way to scenic Cedar Key. The trip takes about 1-1/2 hours each way, and when arriving in Cedar Key participants can eat lunch, peruse the shops or enjoy the views of this small fishing community before returning to Ocala. Once back in Ocala, the opportunity to check out NPD’s car and truck collection will once again be available.

With Silver Springs State Park now being under state control, it presented NPD with an opportunity to re-think the traditional 500-free offer and fees. In recent years, the number of older vehicles participating in the show has been steadily shrinking. The 1989-earlier crowd represents the lion’s share of our loyal NPD customers for whom this show has always been intended as our “thank you” gift. Thus for the 2014 show, registration is totally free to all 1989-earlier vehicles that preregister before September 26th 2014. Any 1990-later vehicles pay a modest park fee of $10 for entry into the show, with no fee for additional passes. Any entry postmarked after 9/26/14 or a day of show entry will be subject to the park fee of $10 for the weekend (again, with no fee for additional passes). Please make no mistake, NPD loves and appreciates all of the beautiful cars and trucks that attend our Silver Springs event. But in the spirit of encouraging more of our customers to pull their “oldies” out of hibernation, we devised the new rate structure. We feel that the $10 fee for 1990-newer cars is extremely modest, especially given the venue. And for cars containing more than two people, it actually winds up being far cheaper than previous years. 100% of the fees go directly to Silver Springs State Park, a National Treasure. We sincerely hope that our loyal late-model participants will view this change in the positive spirit in which it is intended, and continue to join us for a relaxing and top-notch event.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to attend but not show a car, you'll be subject to the following park entrance fees: $8/vehicle (includes all occupants); $5/vehicle with single-occupant, $2/walk or bicycle-in.

Registration is available for all GM models early or late, as well as all GM-powered street rods and exotics. Everything from bone stock to highly modified is welcome!

The registration form should be on www.npdlink.com and available in print form by mid-July. We will also have online registration available this year!

Shoot me an e-mail at dputnam@npdlink.com if you have any questions. I'll be posting more details as they become available.

Bump; only 2-1/2 weeks before pre-registration closes. You can always register on the day of the show for $10, but if you own a 1989-earlier car/truck, register online at: http://bit.ly/fbssg01

The deadline for pre-registration is this Friday, September 26th! Register online at: https://www.nationalpartsdepot.com/s...orm&form_id=10

We will also have registration available on the day of the show. Keep in mind pre-registration does save you time by having a packet ready to go versus the "fill in your information and wait a few minutes for us to make you a windshield card, etc." (as well as save you $10 if you are registering a 1989-earlier vehicle).

Complete show information (registration form, hotels, Friday cruise): https://www.nationalpartsdepot.com/s...ges/ss_gm.html

Look forward to seeing you there!
