Yes, and that story (on the SVT forum) is almost the exact opposite of what happened with my '04 GTO. I was getting ON the interstate in my BLACK '04 GTO and the Cobra was behind ME revving his engine while we waited for the turn light. When we took off, he couldn't even TOUCH me as we went uphill on the freeway entrance ramp...fact is, I didn't know it was a Cobra until I backed my Goat down to cruising speed and ALLOWED him to pass me, then I saw the stampings and smiled real big...now that's a true story...that Ford forum guy must be dreaming because the Cobra behind me wasn't even close to catching me...but maybe the Ford guys who are trolling on this forum will say...oh, but it was because you were going uphill, or some lame excuse...

Or maybe nobody believes you any more than they believe the SVT guy.........

That's the best one I've heard yet. Couldn't even catch up.I have 12.40 time slip when all I had was cold air ind. and a catback on the stock tires. All you would hear of mine is a blower whine smoken by.You better make sure to keep playing with the older cobras and not a 03/04.
quote:
Originally posted by Rabon:

Grow some balls, screw the interstate and show up at the track. Street racing is not real racing.....especially just flooring it on the fly....

I never said anything about flooring it on the fly. I was ahead of the guy but we took off from a light and I left him...EASILY. That's a fact...like it or not...

Sure, interstate racing isn't real racing, I'll grant you that. The guy in the Cobra probably didn't know how to drive it that's for sure because I am certainly not the racing expert that many of you guys are (and I mean that sincerely). Nevertheless, the story is true no matter how many Ford fans want to think its not.

As to whether it was an 03/04 Cobra, I'm no Ford expert but it looked like an '03, the stampings were on the rocker panels and on the rear facia if that means anything to you Ford guys. Doesn't mean anything to me.

You do have to watch out for the blown Cobras - Although a bit weak stock, they can make TONS of power for very little money. Smaller pulley, retune, exhaust ... watch out. Same goes for the Lightning trucks.

But in general, when a GT/Cobra person tells me that outran an LS1, I ask the same question >> "Are you sure the other driver knew you guys were racing?"

Weak stock? I'm sure I would have gone 12.8 or 9 before the cb and cai.and I have a vert. You must drive a viper.
quote:
Originally posted by 68GTOConv:

No Vipers for me. I was trying to give credit to Ford for building a great car (the blown 03 up Cobras). I just sold my Mustang abuser - a blown '01 LS1 Formula. Unlike the Ford boys, I had to spend tons of money getting that thing into the mid 11's. The Ford guys just pulley down, re-chip, and put on drag radials.
