Default Firethorn Red Trans am (1976)

Hi: If anyone has a Firethorn red Trans am, preferable 76 can you post a pic of the Phoenix decal on the hood, or tell me the colors of the decal.

Trying to figure out what the actual factory color was.

Mine is aftermarket which is now (clear gold mustard black.)

Thanks
Charles

Pontiac used gray/red/black decals on all T/A colors during the first few months of production. Once Starlight Black was introduced (in about October), gold/yellow/black was used on a majority of the colors from that point forward, and Firethorn was among them.

When my dad took delivery of his Firethorn Red '76 T/A, it had gray/red/black decals on it. He took it in for servicing a short time later and saw another Firethorn Red T/A at the dealership and it had gold/yellow/black decals. He said it looked much more vibrant and immediately walked over to the parts counter and ordered a set for his car.

Thanks Rocky. It seems mine is a little more of a mustard color versus an yellow. I'm happy with it anyway.

Had the car out with the 3.73's and what a difference.. I think there's a 12.5 in it..

Well, technically, it's gold, matte gold, and black. "Yellow" was for simplicity.

Some fender and decklid decals. I can post more pics if you'd like.
This isn't my car. This car was for sale on ebay back in feb., but I saved the link to the auction, so I can get to it even though it ended.

I assume that color scheme would be true for my Carousel Red 76 T/As hood bird.

I just bought a '76 T/A project car and am planning to repaint the car in Firethorn red- anyone know what is the best brand and type of paint to use? I've used PPG single- stage acrylic enamel in the past and was happy with the results, but I think I want to do a clearcoat on this T/A.

Geno

P.S. sorry to stray off subject
