Starting to put the motor back together in my 76 trans am and looking for some advise on a cam choice. The build is:

76 Trans AM
350 TCI trans
b&m 3200 convertor
3:73 posi rear
400 block
.030 over forged pistons
stock rods
#62 heads
crane roller rockers
edelbrock performer intake
demon 750 carb
mallory unilite distributor
hooker headers
2.5" dual exhaust
The car will be about 70% street driven with an occasional trip to the track. I don't mind a lopey idle, but am looking for a cam that will pull strong up to about 5,000 rpms. The XE274 looks like it may be a good choice, But I am a novice when it comes to this. Any help would be appreciated!

The 068 Pontiac (70 Ram Air & 71-2 455 HO) should work REAL WELL with what you have & what you want to do.

Mellings makes a blueprint grind.

Idle is real real strong & smooth with tons of bottom end & will pull OVER 5000 RPM.

It looks like your compression ratio is going to be around 10:1 with those heads. If I'm right, then you'll have a lot of midrange detonation with the XE cam. The 068 cam is better, but you should also consider the crane 222/234 cam (also on 114 lobe centers). It has a bit more lift than the 068.
1.65 ratio rockers can def make a diff. But stay within the limits of your springs if you choose the crane (maybe 1.65 on intake only?).
