Default Transmission modulator line...

On a 1975 Trans Am with TH350, anyone have a picture of how the modulator line is supposed to route? The one I have routes fine from the modulator up to the block, but once it gets to the intake it goes straight up about 10" and looks like it will interfere with the hood closing. I'm assuming someone bent it at one time since it's been sitting in the backseat of the car for who knows how many years.

I'll search my stash of internet 75 Firebird Photos tonight,
to see how its routed. If I have a photo I'll post it.

There is a long "loop" or "trap" that bends back down on its self,
I think it is to keep Trans Fluid out of the carb, or Gas out of the Trans.
The line runs straight along the intake then It sticks up about the size of a "finger"
and runs straight again twards the carb, Then is connected with a short pice of hose.

Might be the same basic shape on your Grand Am or Lemans, or any other 70s GM
if you have one to compare to.

If you can gently bend it back down it should be ok.

New lines can be made from Steel 1/4" Brake line form the parts store.

All of the ones on my cars are considerably shorter and route around the transmission and end up at the back of the carb very quickly. This one has a good 10-11" more of tubing and if I route it around, it looks like it will end up at the vacuum line at the front of the carb on the driver's side, which I think looks odd and am not sure about.

I searched last night and I dont have any clear photos to post
I'm 99% sure my factory one went to the front of the carb,
but it had who knows how many owners before me,
Maybee checking on a Firebird Photo site could help if
you find an engine shot,
Try http://www.firebirdgallery.com/
tons of owner submited car photos, might be worth a look
for a similar year, also maybee there is a diagram in the
service book or a reprinted GM diagram in a Chilton or Haynes
shop book.
