Was that production? I don't know 67 Fbirds too well?

Looks a bit like it would serve the same function as the small air dams on 69 A and B bodies with AC.

Default ALTERED PART 4

Well they finished her up, however HR never wrote anything beyond this installment.
No test results or whatever became of this dragster
Love to think this little project is still tucked away somewhere, waiting to be re-discovered

Very neat. Well 1970 has come and gone... Still waiting. no pontiac OHC V8's yet.

The height, weight and cost of these engines were deal killers then and even now. Besides when you think of it big OHV V8 engines of the day were already overwhelming the suspension, braking and chassis' of cars of the day. Not to mention the already serious response from insurance companies and governments to current muscle cars. I can just imagine the reaction to 600-700 horse GTO's run by 16 year old kids.

It was fun to dream though!

Cool and now for something completely different...

Truly an amazing work of engineering,
Another interesting part of this is that the engine from this car still exist.
Maybe someone will add a bit of side history to this

Thanks, I've enjoyed sharing these old mag reviews.
Sadly just the car the articles start to fade away.
i.e. I have not one write-up from 1969 and
jump ahead into the few written in the 70's.
Then the few that follow are more of a rehash of earlier articles.

Default FAST FORWARD TO 1983

Never found anything from 70-81/82;

1983 was a transitional year for me I was out of school and among the working force for a few years now and had money burning holes in my pocket. My car taste had somewhat become more refined and no longer was I buying anything that caught my attention. I had sold off the chebbies and the VW and had become a full fledged PONTIACER. Soon after I sold my 1st '66 Lemans along with the '69 GP and was now focused and planning a resto of my '67 GTO, life was good. In between several '66-'67 A-body parts car's purchased came my 2nd '66 Lemans, the only thing about this one was that unlike all my other Pontiac's this thing had a 6 cylinder too which I had no clue as to what I really had?? The sheet metal on this Lemans was outstanding and I knew this would save lots of $$ using parts on my GTO. Well as with many things in life it didn't go down the way I had planned. My girlfriend, now wife had been using this Lemans on and off to avoid winter exposure to her new car. This was OK since storage had become an issue and the GTO project stalled. But then the little 6 started to become a real PITA as it was taking my focus away from my GTO so we decided to take it out of service and she was stored outside while my GTO sat inside.
One thing lead to another and we had to relocate to a new shop/storage but this was only possible for one car and yes you guessed it the GTO stayed dry while the Lemans sat semi disassembled in the driveway undercover. However I feel this is what saved this car from further demise.
I was very active in swap meets and always looking for information. (the internet was still sometime away.)
One of my interest were car magazines and it was from this I learned that the Lemans in the driveway with that little 6 was more than I realized. The rest as they say is history. The following Flashback it one of the first, if not the first magazines I bought with information which would ultimately lead to me now being OHC Crazy
Enjoy!

What scares me is that I remember buying that magazine at a pharmacy like it was yesterday but it was 30 years ago!!!

When you think about it they were righting about cars only 15 years old but they seemed so old at the time.

It's funny to see them praising the then new pontiacs, when they were gutless junky cars. Anyone who has ever driven a combustable rattley slugbait fiero or those early bendy flexy wheezy gen 3 firebirds (I know because I had one in 83) can relate to why those the just used pontiacs from the late 60's were so desirable.
