Cool car!

Wouldn't the PHS show if it was a 'Ventura'?
I see where the style is a 'Sport Coupe' from the service manual, but no mention of a 'Ventura'.

Maybe get your own PHS to see what it is?
(and see if the original engine was a 421)

I've had several 65 big cars and a couple of 2+2's and done some research on them in the past. My understanding is that there was no Ventura 'option' as such in 65, but you could order the optional Ventura interior. If that makes any sense. (No separate model, i.e. no Ventura badges, etc. on the car.)

Yes, they haven't made a Ventura Model since 62. after that it change to an interior upgrade. This 65 car does have Ventura door panel emblems so I'm still a little confused as to whether it is or isn't.

I parted out a 65' 2 door HT. It had a Ventura interior (emblems on the door panels) but I can't recall outside emblems. I would have kept them!

Default Ventura

The Ventura has another wiper package ...the wipers and linkage are different. The Ventura has the wipers like the canadian builded 65 Pontiac Parisienne ..! I have an canadian car and converted the wipers to an US build Big Car ..its pre factory drilled in the firewall because the firewall is same at the 65 66 GM cars

look: first pic Ventura and canandian Pontiac
second pic Catalina G/P Bonneville ect.

I never knew about the 2 different wiper packages. When I took my car apart I never looked at that. Will have to go look at some old pics and hopefully it's there.

I'm not 100% sure about what they did in 1965, but I think the wiper configuration depended on whether the car had single speed or two speed wipers - at least, that's how it was for previous years (like 1961 and 1962.) Single speed wipers went back and forth together, two speed wipers met in the middle.

I'm almost positive that all Canadian sourced cars had the two speed wipers that met in the middle.

Certainly all RHD cars out of Canada had the wipers that meet in the middle. That format will comply in all countries whereas full sweep types are very difficult to convert to RHD.

All Australian assembled RHD cars which came from the Oshawa factory had 2 speed wipers with washers.

Just to be clear, Pontiac did offer the up-level Bonneville style trim after '61 as the Ventura trim option.

As big car fans know, this option typically mirrored the Bonneville cut-and-sew, colors and materials. While there are Catalinas with buckets and without Ventura trim, I have only ever seen one in my whole life... in the warehouse at the former John Fitzgerald car collection and alligator farm in Florida.

In '66, the Ventura option used the 2+2 trim - AFAIK, that was one-year only. Also has the same "Pontiac" dash nameplate, a very rare item.

After that -- you need someone with access to the C+I books to tell for sure, but I'd swear I've seen cars as late as '69 with the Ventura emblem.

Default 1965 Ventura

I also have a 65 Ventura, but with the 389 tri power and a stick. My car is identified on the outside as a Ventura with small Ventura lettering underneath and toward the rear of the Catalina rear 1/4 moldings. It also says Ventura on the door panels.
My PHS paperwork only shows it as a Ventura under the interior code of 25237. PHS shows this highlighted in yellow like they do for all options. The Ventura option is not listed under the typical "options and accessories" section provided by PHS to me.
Speaking of the windshield wipers, I quote from page two of "1965 Pontiac Line Story. A Pontiac exclusive for 1965 is the articulated windshield wiper which gives greater sweep than ever before. The system is designed to wipe at much higher speeds than any other system. The articulated wiper is standard on all Pontiac models except the Catalina which offers it as an option."
I hope that this information helps.
Scott
