The reason I asked about the trim was that wouldn't you need to have the carpet out and trim, etc, before gasaxing the floor for a shifter?

Also, the shot in the "Made in Pontiac" story showed bodies in the bank that did not appear to have IP's in them...

Re: carpet and trim - apparently not - in this arrangement you'd have to cut through the carpet as well.

We normally receive carpet with the cutouts already in place but in those instances where it is done on site we use a steel rule die. You throw the carpet over a floorpan shaped fixture and the sharpened edge of a steel blade is sticking up in the shape of the cutout. Hitting the edge of the steel with a rubber hammer (or leather hammer) cuts through the carpet in the shape of the opening.

I'll go back and re-review the Made in Pontiac photos to see what you are refering to relative to IPs -

Here is some film footage from the "Pontiac Pours it On for '71" series, where you can see completely trimmed bodies at the end of Fisher and in the 8 lane body bank (2.24 minute mark). Bodies have glass, inside rear view mirrors, seats, rear package tray, etc:

This old pig keeps popping her head up here doesn't she?

I'm still pissed over the condition it came home in, one of these days I'll get on it and do it right.

Mike
