Default Do we have a resource?

Do we have a resource like this for firebirds?

Camaro research group
http://www.camaros.org/suspen.shtml

There’s certainly a lot of info archived in the threads etc. Some proven correct some proven incorrect over time, Would be nice to see it all in one place like they have done w CRG.

It's the same.

Since the Firebird and Camaro were built down the same line the process and build order as described apply to both.

Kurt Sonen used to be on here, haven't heard from him in a while.
He and John V helped quite a bit on my 1969 Body Tags page.
(plus quite a few other things)

That site is an awesome site. There is no comparable one for Pontiacs.
I have tried to document as much Pontiac stuff as I can. But they (CRG) have found tons of factory documents to help them.
(plus a ton more time than I have )

Plus they had John Z. He wrote most of the process documentation for the site.

He was there during the plant set up and product launch. (That's him in the background of this photo, one of the the guys in the white shirt).

Keep in mind there is also variation from plant to plant, and even individual operator to operator.

That's not good news. Was he a regular @ Dayton?

I don’t know a lot about him. I do know that he was active in both the Camaro and Corvette hobby. I think he was a well known member of NCRS. The man was a wealth of knowledge.

The CRG site is a great resource, even for 1st Gen Firebirds. I knew John Z when he was on the Viper program (worked just down the hall from him). Wealth of knowledge and very eager to share his experiences and details from the F-Body launch.

It would certainly be possible to create a site similar what the CRG has done over the years. Much of the assembly process was virtually the same for Firebird even with plant process variations between Norwood, Lordstown and Van Nuys. There are plenty of '67-'69 Firebird enthusiasts with lots of experience and knowledge particular to the Firebird. Many I've spoken with would be eager to help out.
This endeavor would of course require dedication and skills to put everything together in a user friendly web site. I have collected quite a bit of 1st gen data, references, etc. over the past 35+ years. If anyone is serious about starting this project, I'm in.

Actually, Firebirds were initially built only at Lordstown (with full size Chevy, no Camaros) from the fall of '66 until March of '68 when Van Nuys added the Firebird with the Camaro and full size Chevy vehicles.

For '69, the Firebird was built at Lordstown, Norwood and Van Nuys.

I knew there were some differences between them one being the top of the firewall between the two pinch sections being black on firebirds and not in camaros or maybe that was just at certain plants. But either way there’s items specific to the firebird that would be good to have specific info on if our intention is to preserve these cars accurately for future generations.

Man I wish this info was available for the first gen Firebirds. I believe that's how the Martini report was born. Someone got a hold of all the data and published the conclusions, then you have to pay to document your car is indeed represented in those numbers. I have no idea why PHS doesn't do this? I would gladly pay again for PHS docs to prove how rare my 69's are. According to the Camaro Color percentages, Champagne was the lowest at 0.6% tied with Tuxedo black.
