Default Rear Stripe

Please see attached photo.

Was this a factory or dealer option in '65? Does anyone have details on measurements?

I think it looks cool and wouldn't mind doing it in vinyl.

It was never a option even dealer installed!
To me it’s ugly, but to each his own, or maybe you just really want a Mopar?

Would you put a matching Camaro stripe on the front to go with the Mopar stripe on the rear? Would need some SS/RT stickers to make it complete.

Ha! I think it looks cool! Maybe I'm a closet Mopar guy.

I like it!

Of course I like Mopars, and Trans Ams with a bunch of graphics on them.

That "look" on a GTO just about made me throwup.

Those decals were at every auto parts store in the 70's. They came on a roll. Notice in the picture how "off" it is at the bottom of quarter...

Shoot, I did not even like those stripes on Mopars.

If you do stripe your car, remember if you do stripes on the front as well as the back, you'll have so many comments the thread will get shut down

In the vernacular of the period, we called that a "Mope Stripe".

I’m surprised no one ever came up with a big tiger decal for the hood/roof and trunk of a GTO. Start with the head and front paws on the hood, torso on the roof and hind quarters/tail on the deck lid. Would look just as stupid as the Mopar decals but at least the idea would be new.

The picture is from a 1960s high school annual, so I assume the car belonged to a kid who was 17 years old or so. I'd cut him some slack, it was the sort of thing kids did back in the day. Like it or not, he still had one of the coolest cars in school...I wish I would have been able to own a near new GTO when I was his age.

I think stripes running front to rear are more attractive than that type in the pic

Especially when the work with / accent hood scoops

Looks Like the miss use of the over the counter Pontiac Rally Stripe Kit (available in 4 colors in 66 and 67).

It’s called personalizing to your own taste and not caring what someone you don’t know thinks. I personally live by that every day. If you worry about every one else’s opinion your never going to build the car “you” truly want.

I think it makes the car look like a '68 Dodge Dart.

One can only assume that the OP was looking for comments and was ready for negative ones.

If any of these reply's bent him out of shape then he has no one to blame but himself, right?
