Default 4L80E Transmission hookup

How do I hook up the neutral safety switch and the backup lights to a 4L80E transmission?
Going into a '63 Catalina with column shift.
Thanks!

I've got an after market floor shifter and there are two switches integrated (reverse and neutral). I simply connected the factory wiring to these two switches. If you have a column car, there should be a switch package mounted to the steering column that gives you the same. If you don't have a shifter with switches for park & neutral, you can get a switch pack that mounts directly to the transmission.

The switch on the column under the dash has a different pattern (Slim Jim) than the 'E.

Who makes something that mounts to the Trans?

I expect that in the original installation the black box on the side of the trans is what handles the job.

Thanks!

Ed, here's a link to amazon harness and an OEM style GM PRND321 switch, this is how GM put a switch on the drives side selector shaft.

There are wiring schematics online that should get you the color coding to wire a OEM style switch into your car. I hope this is helpful.....

The switch from early hydramatic transmissions, to the T 400 in 65 might get you a switch that would interchange to the earlier column and give you the correct positioning for park neutral, and reverse for a later car might also be an option, but not having tried that, it would just be theory on my part.

I've found some schematics but don't understand what leads I need to connect to the chassis harness for the neutral safety switch and the back up lights.
Thanks for any help!
