Not a Darksider but 235-55-17 on U109 Bandits. These are aluminum knockoffs of the R2's of course.

I assume you're talking about 17" wheels on a 1966 full size Pontiac?

Year One 17" Rally style with 235/55R17. Sitting high without the drive train and interior, but I think you can tell they'll fill the wheel openings nicely.

My rear wheels are 15"x14"
Rear tires are 31”x18.5” I'm leaning towards 17 in front wheels so I can do a disc brake conversion and have a little bit bigger rotors. But I don't know if the staggered wheel size would look okay or not. |

Here's a closer view of the 17" on the front where you can make out the rotor outline behind the wheel.

First pic is the new 17's on my wagon.
Second was when I bought it with no-name 15" rims. Third is the 13" rotors behind the spokes. Still need to buff out the new paint and get the roof rack back on.

My car (green one) uses 15in centres stepped-up to 17in wheels so I have better tire selection. This is using a modern 2-piston brake rotor and ~300mm ventilated disc. I could fit a 4-piston and 6-piston caliper behind a proper 17in wheel.

I would not worry about the staggered wheel size- see it all the time on newer cars that need 15” tires for traction and it looks tough.

18 x 8 on front, 20 x 10 on rear.

Rekindling the flame and searching for more info on people running 17's on wagons. Curious if anyone has been able to do it on big Pontiac without cutting the inner fenders on the rear?

17"x8" U.S. Wheel - the fitment is killer, the wheels themselves weren't exactly straight out of the box. Apparently allowed axial runout on a steel wheel is quite a bit more than aluminum.
