A bodies up thru 72 used the 2 bolt motor mount with corresponding frame mount for 400 cubes and less. 455's got the 3 bolt engine mount with a matching frame mount starting in 70. That is my understanding. I am somewhat new to the A body scene, tho.

Are you mixing a 455 3 bolt engine mount with a 400 frame mount? What applications did the motor mounts and the frame mounts come from?

if I recall right, the 455 needs different motor mount frame brackets and different motor mounts.

Your 455 will have the motor mount holes in the block that will work with the 400 motor mounts.

A buddy of mine had the same problem with Butler poly mounts. Had to put rubber ones in.

Sometimes you have to wrestle the engine around a little to get the bolts in. Go ahead and bolt the engine down and see if its sitting level. regardless of what it looks like I don't think you should be having a problem.
