That's the thing...that hood covers a LOT of real estate...the hood scoop breaks it up quite nicely!

Thumbs up Skeeters Diamond in the Rough...

Skeeter, I meant to post this before.
Hopefuly insperation for you

Your 66' caught me as I know of one exactly(color & condition) like yours in my area that I am keeping my eye on. I saw this one up for auction so I've kept a copy of the pic to remind me of the local 66'

Are you aware of the OHC boards?
If not here is a link.

AT least I was secure enough to run those rainbow tanks in my rock crawler. I've had people tell me they would never run them, lost bet or not. I told them that's because secretly, they crave the cock.

The bodywork continues, this thing is gonna be smooth.

Ain't that the truth with painting...never rush a bodyman, it'll show in the end results!

I know the feeling. Mine was free & I'll never sell it (however I do have a lot of $$ in finishing it). Too much sentimental value.

More info in my resto thread: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=516826

Thankfully, my bodyman, and painter, is a good friend, and former employee. I told him to take his time, as I still have to put my 400 together. The machine shop lost my lower dipstick tube, so I need to order one.

Scott - didn't they close the dealership? Where's the car getting painted?

Nope, the dealership is there, they shut down the body shop to insurance companies. They kept one body guy, and one painter to do internal, and customer work. My car is there
I am on good terms with the dealership owners, they gave me and the other guys plenty of notice. They performed substantial cuts on the employees that are still there.

Im not sure if I posted in this thread before, but anyway here is my '66 and some info on it. There are a couple pitchures of the car all together, these are pics of the car before it was taken apart to be restored. The guy who took it apart was going to restore it and changed his mind and parted it instead. This car had 70,000 miles and ran pretty good at the time and for the most part was all original. So he took alot of the parts to Tri power at Norwalk and sold them, someone here might even have some parts from this car. So he sold the shell, frame, rear end,and some other stuff to the guy I bought it from. What I have now are Shell, doors, hood, trunk lid, front grill support, inner wheel wells, rear end, rear seat, some front end parts, and some stuff from my dads old '66 Lemans. I contacted the previous owner to the guy I bought it from and he said he still has the original 326 and he thinks he might have the trans also,he's the one who gave me the pics of the car all together. I plan on restoring this car back to stock. I started a thread on this but haven't done much, just been collecting parts.I found this car at Tripower this year, the guy had a black lemans for sale and this car was advertised on a poster board for $500.00.

I never saw your car to start with...what kind of shape was it in to begin with?

Good thing the dealership gave you plenty of notice...some employers aren't so kind...

The attached is how she looked previously.

While the body work and paint will be nice, this is nowhere near a restoration. I want a driver I can pound on.

I agree, my former employers are awesome, it was great working for them, and I appreciate their allowing me to continue with the body work and paint.

Here are some dumb photoshops, including the one with the flames that SMJ actually thought I painted on

I'm diggin' picture #2

So you left the gills on but put GTO badges on? That's kinda cool. Does the 67 LeMans have the chrome rocker panel on the back quarter? The 66 didn't have it there, only the GTO - I've thought about putting that on mine, but I'll probably just go for the GTO hood. You left the tail lights alone, right?

Regarding the restoration - I agree. What's the point of owning a car like this...or any car for that matter if you can't drive the crap out of it? Of course, I don't own a RAV Judge 'vert that's worth six figures, but still...enjoy it!

Same thing with guitars. If I ever owned a guitar I was afraid to gig with, I'd get rid of it. What's the point?

Question - why did you go with the two tone paint scheme?

I removed all the GTO badges. I'm keeping the gills, and the gto grilles up front.

The two tone is just personal preference, you can always paint it again.

Default My 67 Lemans convertible

Here's my 67 Lemans convertible after pulling the motor and at K-Tek Welding where they are repairing my frame, installing body bushings, and my motor and pic of motor on dyno at Cygan Speed Engineering.

Engine just dynoed at 620HP w/ Victor and 606HP with Torker II.
400 block, 4 bolt mains, all ARP studs and bolts, SD cnc ported E-heads (330 cfm), custom Diamond pistons, Eagle crank and rods, Canton road race pan, .685 lift 259 duration @ .050 solid roller, etc.

Car now has poly front suspension, and body mounts. Hotchkiss 1 inch lowering springs all around and I usually have on it my black 16 inch GTA rims.

Putting in 20 gallon fuel cell and Aeromotive fuel system. Hope to be on the road in a few weeks (right as we get our first big snow in Pittsburgh).

Anyone have pics of interior with custom guages or custom dash?? I'm looking to start working on mine over the winter.

What part of Pittsburgh are you in? I'm in Greensburg.

That's gonna be alot of motor for drum brakes

I was thinking of GTA wheels on mine, but there is very little in tire sizes available for them. I have access to an NOS set of Black GTA wheels.
