great - did you test the thermostat in a pot of water before install? I've tested numerous 160 and 180 stats. Some open on time but others don't fully open till about 15 degrees above rating.

I used Red Line Water Wetter along with a 50/50 mix and noticed no improvement in cooling. However, it resulted in oily deposits in my coolant - easy to see under the radiator cap. I searched the web and found others who experienced the same when using with a 50/50 mix. I’ve since flushed my cooling system and put in 50/50 only. This is apparently normal but I didnt want any weird substance helping to clog my radiator or heater core.

Others with similar experience: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/tt-...-tank-1783232/

If I wasn’t in Maryland I would too - I drive the cars if roads have no salt.

Ok one more silly question……..is 50/50 mix better for colder weather? Is that what it’s for? Or is it the opposite?

Almost with you but because of my elevation and the cars being stored in an unheated steel building I go with a 25% antifreeze mix, distilled water, and Water Wetter. That takes things down to about 12° and our lows never go under 22° The drag car was always distilled water and Water Wetter and I never saw any rust or corrosion so the additives must be pretty decent in the product.

I forgot about a tin gallon can of antifreeze on the garage shelf and within a few years the bottom rusted through and the contents flowed out. So much for the anti-rust properties of that product.

Water pump lube is actually soluble oil which is oil mixed with detergent.
