Seeing as how nobody more knowledgeable than me (that's a lot of people) has stepped up...

IIRC, all the 58-62 rods were forged. Could these be good ones? Without any way to ID them odds are against it. Don't abandon research, it beats regret. I'm just steeling you for a possibility. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Surest way to know if they're the regular rubber rods would be finding someone who can perform a hardness test on them. Brinell numbers are known. Sounds expensive though? Dunno, never looked into it.

I would say 1963-1965 1/2 #544956 421 H.O. rod.

In general, widths of the big end of the Pontiac rods are .995", and the small ends are 1.250".

Exceptons are
1958-63 S.D., .985" big end.
1973-74 S.D., .990" big end.
1969-70 RA V, .985" small end, .990" big end.

Lots of info on rods in Pete McCarty´s second book.

If you measure the rod from under the rod bolt head to above the rod nut, if it is exactly 2 inches, its an SD rod! other rods are 1 15/16th when measured the same way
