Any one start messing with the audio system in their GTO's yet... Its ok but I'm actually unimpressed by the current sound out of something that says "blaupunkt" on it... I started looking at getting the speakers out and they are tucked behind the panels pretty good... Not looking forward to that job, might bring it over to Best Buy...

Just wondering if anyone installed new speakers / Amps yet and what ya did???

Jeff

I would ask on www.ls1gto.com

A few have replaced headunits over there.

Have you entered the menu on your radio and turned off the ddl? I was unimpressed with the sound of the factory settings but I read the manual, turned off the dynamic distortion limiter and the system sounds MUCH better. If you haven't done that yet try it. I think you will be pleased.

Yeah, that crummy system in the new GTO just can't compare to that technological marvel that came in the original '64.

I don't know,I turned mine up to Volume 50 while playing Led Zeppelins first album. Sounded pretty damn good to me.

There is also a bass control for the system in the unit in the left side of the trunk behind a panel. I cranked mine up a bit bit and it really helped. I listen to mostly heavy metal and Octane on XM.
