I have the 18" race pro's. Sound wicked wide open. Awesome cruising tone.

They are a good sounding muffler also.

Thinking about getting some race pros or violators on my Trans Am. I have some bullets on there now but Im sick of them. My pop has the violators on his 66 and those sound great!

When comparing the exhaust sounds of 2002Z4CSS and GTOBOY455 the street pros sounded louder and more throaty. I have the Street Pros on the GTO and have Race Pro's for the LeMans but not installed so Im not sure the difference in sound in person. I really like the Street Pro sound. I haven't had the time and Im afraid to try to take off the stock manifolds off the LeMans and install headers,as my luck the bolts will break in the heads, then I'd be pulling the engine to get them out, then while the engine is out I'd want to clean up the engine compartment up, so the snow ball will start. Both sound great guys.

SOUNDS AWESOME, LOOKS NICE AND CLOSE FITTING, NOTHING WORSE THAN A LOW FITTING EXHUST SYSTEM THAT SCRAPES ON EVERY JUDDER BAR OR PARKING LOT ENTRY.
I USE A HIGH TEMP ANTISEIZE ON ALL BOLTS AND JOINTS, AS AT SOME POINT IN TIME WE HAVE TO UNDO THEM FOR WHAT EVER REASON

My Pypes X system with Ram Air Restorations 2 1/2" dumps is on and it sounds great, the 455 really likes the extra breathing.
It's "pull" in the upper RPM is very noticeable, you can really feel the difference out on the hwy.

How good does the larger manifold fit by the frame?

Fit is fine except for a the bolt that is protruding out the side of the big original starter, the flange on that side is right up against it but it's on there, a mini starter will be my fix in the future.

CNC....My best advice for installing one of these systems on a Firebird is get the X and mufflers all attached together and raise that into place, then get your tail pipes on/in place and secure to mufflers then you can cut the head pipes to the length needed. The problem area will be where the tail pipe curves up & over the rear diff and you need to leave enough space for the fuel lines.

I'll add....

Going from logs to these oversize ram air manifolds involves the same b.s. as installing headers on a F body, you must remove the starter & oil filter & housing or remove the motor mounts and raise the engine way up. Theres also a few bolts that are damn difficult to tighten...just like headers.
I've read on forums how much easier these are to install...not so on a Firebird.

How much did you trim off your tailpipes for the tips?

My directions say use one clamp for the tailpipe to muffler to hanger. A lot looks like yours using 2 clamps.

I think I ended up taking 3" off for the tips. Maybe should have taken a little more but close enough.
