Default Out with the FITech, In with the Holley Terminator X

So I took off the FITech 1200 PA and installed the TX.

The car:
71 Trans Am
6.0 L96 rec port Gen IV
Victor Jr. intake
Accufab 4 bbl throttle body
Cammotion Junk yard dog V2 cam.
Flat top pistons.
Full length headers with 3 in. exhaust all the way to the tips.
TKX 5 speed trans.
3.73 12 bolt
A/C

First impressions:

Wiring up the TX was major PITA! (but worth it). Sensor extensions, extending and shortening wires. Relays, relays, relays, normally open, normally closed. Sheesh!

FIT much easier. Everything pretty much wires to the throttle body.

First time car start, the TX fired right up.

FIT needed a million adjustments just to get the car to drive right or at least decent.. FIT uses their own nomenclature compared to Holley or even HP Tuners for that matter.

TX on the other hand a couple minor adjustments and the car runs great. Not saying it doesn't need a couple more tweaks but overall the car runs good. Idles nice, no stalling no bucking. If I did nothing else as to tuning I could live with it as is but who am I kidding I can't leave well enough alone, lol.

Next I will start adjusting fuel tables, timing, etc. and start to dial in.

If any body has any questions feel free to ask...

Cool project, thanks for sharing. Plenty of I/O for your needs? I think they came out with an I/O extender if not.

So far no need for I/O's with exception of making the fans run in "Run Condition" only,...When the car is hot it turns on the fans (If in the fan temp zone) while "key on" and "cranking". I'm not too crazy about that. Just more batt stress.

No doubt. Was curious if you were gonna monitor fuel or oil, pressure or temperature through the Holley. Or set it up for flex fuel etc.

No Flex Fuel, but yes I oil pressure and fuel pressure hooked up through Holley as well as my factory gages. Oil temp is on my factory gage which monitors water temp and oil temp.

When we got my car all dialed in, the shop recommended that I step up to the Holley Terminator at some point. My car was shutting down every full throttle pull and it absolutely looked like a gremlin in the ECU - prompting the recommendation for the Holley. Fortunately, they found an error code with the throttle body - swapped in a known good TB and got several back to back full throttle pulls with no shut-down or limp mode. So I’m currently enjoying the car with the stock ECU (and a new TB!) but I do see the Holley unit in my future. This shop loves the ease and tune-ability of the Holley, and they do a ton of boosted LS applications.

Holley Terminator X
Just an update, I have made a couple of adjustments but nothing serious yet. My car actually runs pretty good just "out of the box". FITech was never like that. So point is very happy with the change so far.

Appreciate it Andrew but with all the experience I have with the FITech this thing is cake in comparison.
