Default 79 TA AC ducting vent and dash install questions.

I would appreciate some knowledge as to the dash, ducting and vent install on my 79 TA.
I am getting ready to install the AC dashboard and have acquired all the proper ducting to do the install to put the AC system back to working.
The problem I have is the ducting was not complete when I removed the dash so I really have no idea how it may all fit together with the dash.
I will be testing all the vacuum canisters and doors before I install the ducting. I have installed the new heater core and checked the AC evaporator for leaks - all is good.
My questions:
What is the order of components to install. Do I put the entire ducting together before I install the dash?
Can the ducting sit loosely in place before I screw duct components to the dash after the dash is fitted or should I fit the components to the dash first.
On the kick panel vents - I removed all of the flaking and brittle rubberized sealant from the kick panels when i removed them. On the install can I use a black silicone to seal the kick panels against the cowl.
Are there any other suggestions when installing the dash and putting it all together?
Your suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you.

Although I haven’t removed my dash I did remove a lot of the vents in order to install my factory radio. That said, I believe #1 and #6 should be attached to the dash before installation. I don’t recall seeing a way to remove them when my dash was installed but I could be wrong.

I did detach #4 but can’t remember if it is removable (or able to be installed, with the dash in place.

The remaining pieces, 2, 3, and 5, can definitely be removed/installed with the dash in place.

Hope this helps.

Very helpful,
I believe #4 screws to dash also - So radio goes in after dash install and then install vents 2,3, and 5
What sealant needs to be used to seal the kick panel to the cowl?

What sealant? That, I can’t answer. Sorry. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

I'm not sure of your brands there but you want the medium body caulk seam sealer that stays gummy, the type used for AC cases and similar, possibly some door trim water sheets use.

Can you send me a link to some options?

For number 5, this is what I used on my 1977 T/A:

hey i4abuygto - I removed the dash in 78 TA (non ac) quite a while ago. I seem to recall I had all ducting intact and just removed lower ducts ? Im pretty sure I followed https://www.hitmantransam.com/Pages/removedash.htm .
Maybe that will help a little. I will also attach a few pics from the 78 Service manual that may help. For sealing the kick panels , I use 3m caulking strips , https://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalo...dowsealant.php
.
Not too much on on caulking strips - when sealing kick panels - seems less is generally better. I find the 3m caulking strips have many uses.

Thanks guys for the information on the sealant options and the link to the hitmantransam dash removal procedure- that is exactly what I am looking for to follow the reverse to install.
The difficulty I am having is much of the ductwork components behind the dash were already removed or damaged when I purchased the TA. I have No reference to location or parts.
It looks like I am missing some screws and clips to hold the duct work together. I will be making a trip to the local fastener place to come up with what I need for screws.

Is it easier to put the kick panels in on both sides before I install the dash? Also, I have some minor surface rust on some of the internal vent "gates" - do I need to clean them up before install - do you recommend a coat of paint or just get it back together.
