Default Part ID Help

I have two stamped panels that I can’t identify. From ‘64 Tempest convertible. Can someone please provide some direction?
Thanks!

Thumbs up

Not sure about the '64 but the upper piece looks similar to the mud shield used in '65 for the optional Reverse Lights.

The bottom piece is the Linkage Shield used on '64-'67 all models.

Hmmm. Never had that linkage shield on our 64. Perhaps something that got taken off and tossed eons ago.

The shifter cover was meant for states with snow, it was a dealer installed item. the rectangle cover is a backup light cover

G.T.O.boy,

Would you please elaborate on (the shifter cover was meant for states with snow).

Any Pontiac information/documentation on this would be great.

This doesn’t compute regardless of what factory/dealer my car initially came from.

Let’s say I purchase a New 1965 GTO with a 4 speed and I live in Florida and I elect to take a vacation to go snow skiing in Colorado. Do I need to have a shifter cover installed???

Please advise, Thank you.

Mr. G.T.O.boy,

Disregard my post #5. I rambled to much, sorry.

That metal guard fastened underneath behind the LH lower A-arm was installed at the factory on at least 65-67 Tempest Series cars to protect from debris getting on the clutch arm and shifter mechanism.

Chris

I’d say yes, as Jeff said. Factory installed 64-67.

The 8000+ mile ‘64 has one.

My 65 and 66 also have this shield.

I guess it is reproduced:

Never saw one on our car, we've had it since 1970. But who knows what may have become of it over the years or if it ever had one to begin with.

Thanks for all the answers! Not so sure about the snow. This car is a one-family-owned car built in Baltimore and delivered new in Norfolk, VA. Not the snowiest climate.
