I don't think it's shark tank worthy as it's not being passed off as an original car. It's a modified 70 with a 455 and a 5 speed.

when I first bought my firebird I thought for the longest time the spoiler ends had been trimmed squared off and thought it looked out of place.

was glad to find out the long ones were on later cars. it would not have mattered to me on my car though.

yet as stated when I see the long ends on early cars it does look out of place.

hearing the VIN plate fastners are wrong sure is scary.

Vin tag rivets look correct....but cowl tag is fastened with PoP rivets...

This is an interesting car. Seems to have decent bones, but it's really rough around the edges, lots of problems. I see it as a good car for a driver that you don't care about roughing it up a bit, if you could get it at a really good price. To me the cowl tag problem seems like a big deal. I think the car is a real TA but that problem will haunt you. So based on that I'd never try to "restore" it (unless someone thought they could fix that), and I wouldn't pay any kind of serious money for it.

It may be a good car to put on a Roadster Shop chassis and a 700 HP LS motor with a 6 speed tranny and make it an all out bada$$ sleeper street machine. That would be fun.

I understand people's concern with the rivets, but since rust is common on the cowl at the bottom of the windshield, I would hope that the tag was removed to ensure it wasn't damaged when repairs were done - and that the secondary vin is there.
Car that spend any time in much of Oregon rust where the moisture collects - it's quite odd for me to see where those cars rust compared to cars which lived their lives on the prairies.
I noted that there is mention of a repaint and new windshield;
Picture #118 has a line item of "REPAIR - HOOD PANEL"... it's a panel by the hood??
BINGO!! - picture #149 (last picture) shows the entire dash side of the cowl was replaced;
The paint booth pictures seem to show the cowl tag in place and masked with yellow tape, but picture #149 is such that you cannot tell if the cowl tag wasn't removed at that time.
I would hope that considering the scope of work done by the seller that the secondary vin was photographed.

I really like the car's stance:
So many of these cars sit way too high...

picture #103 has me scratching my head.

I agree that the pictures make the blue look off, but picture #139 seems to show the blues looking proper.

As a fun driver it could be great at the right price, as a collectible TA, I don't think this one will probably ever be. That's ok, every car has its place. This one is quite a hodge-podge. The rivets, the passenger fender, the dash (RTS), the clock, the oil press/water temp and fuel gauges, the lower steering column panel from an A/C car are all incorrect. But a 455 with a 5-speed sounds like a fun ride that you could drive anywhere!

They added a driving video. Car sounds good. Maybe it’s me, but the shifter placement/pattern seems a bit off from where I’d expect the shifter to be… especially in 5th.

Unfortunately the guy doing the video just points at the corner of the dash, but unless I am mistaken that looks like the POS shifter handle that Hurst has sold for the 2nd gen Camaro and Firebird for decades - it works, but (going off memory here) you need to move the console over towards the drivers seat substantially, or modify it to sit lower so that it doesn't hit the left side of the shifter hole trim plate...

I went back to the BAT listing, and it does appear to be the aftermarket Hurst shifter arm;
Again going from memory, the issue isn't with the shifter arm (chrome stick) per say, it's the fact that the aftermarket HCP shifter sticks the arm straight up, where as the factory HCP shifter angles it towards the passenger seat - this is what more or less centres it in the console "hole".

I think that would be a fun car to own and drive, but I wouldn't pay anywhere near that price for it. Although I can see how he easily has at least that much in it.

This is but his first step on the path to endless wealth via classic car restorations. LOL.
