Default Trim-Clearance front of rear quarter for tire clearance?

Hey Guys,

What are some ways to Trim-Clearance front of rear quarter for tire clearance and not destroy paint outside of the well on the quarter?

Thanks, Craig

once you make that cut, your going to want to rust proof real real well. I let por15 seep between the parts first, then by hand packed seam sealer in there.

If you have a wheelwell trim piece it gotta be cut with it. if you trim a bunch the original trim piece screws may have to move outboard. did all this on my 69 Judge clone when I raced.

Thanks - very helpful - any pictures of finished wheelwell?

Hard to imagine how to make look decent and follow original lines on 72 GTO quarter panel.

Thanks, Craig

I'd hate to permanently transform clearance for that.

How big of tire are you trying to use? We have a 65 which is fairly limited for tire size. I always thought you could run pretty big tires on the later cars. Maybe I dreamed that up on my own, tho.

Good luck!

yep, thats what I was using as well. couple times. once on an original 69 Gto Judge RAIV in the 1980s and again on my recently sold 1969 Judge clone. clearanced em both. (also had a original 1969 RA3 judge 4 speed.) used cheeter slicks on that one with stock rims though.

the 69 is a different shape of course and I "only" had to clearance the top and taper it in as I went down. done nicely was no big deal. but i'm a street/strip drive the heck out of em type. having to clearance the front as you say is different.

pics?
