Default Hot starter question

We have a stock starter on our 67 Firebird 326. Sometimes when the engine is hot, the starter will not turn over. Is this power Master starter good for minimizing Heat problem?

Pick up a reduction one. Can’t believe I waited so many years to switch to them. Running billet jegs ones on a 400 and 327 both with a good amount of compression and they don’t care how hot it is. Just spins.

On my car, the heavy cable and wire going to my starter are just long enough to fit on the lugs of the stock starter. Are the lugs in the same place in the gear reduction starters?

The stock starter should work okay as long it's in good condition and your cables are all good. More often than not, all they need are new bushings and bearings. Those parts should be available from your local auto parts store and they're a lot cheaper than a whole new starter. I just looked online and found them at O'Reilly's, I imagine Auto Zone, NAPA and the others have them too.

I have the mini starter on a few cars and it works great- the one you posted should work fine as well.

I have found that replacing the cables with ‘0’ gage cable is a huge help. You can get it at a stereo shop or Amazon. O’Reily’s also sells 1 gage which is still far better than factory and worlds better than parts store replacement - yet doesn’t look out of place.

I've been using the Powermaster 9510 for years and recently got some 1 guage battery cables from American Autowire. Works great

I had brand new cables, and a rebuilt starter (by a vey reputable garage), and still had issues with the stock setup. I also have long branch manifolds (factory headers) so that didn't help. After I put a RobbMc, aluminum case/adjustable starter on I haven't had a problem with heat sink since. Just my $.02, take it as you want.
