Default No brake lights when engine is running

Hello all…I just bought a 64 GTO that is a frame off restoration. When the key is in the ignition and turned to the right (with the engine not running) my brake lights work great. However, when I start the engine and it is running, I have no brake lights (only running lights).

Any suggestions on what this could be and where to start? Thanks.

Sounds kinda weird. Does it have a stock type wiring harness? Normally these do not have brake lights with ignition switch in off position. (Just a note, key must be on)
Would start by checkin power to the brake light switch, Purple wire should have power, if not it's loosing power from the fuse box. Does everything else work? Check this wiring diagram, https://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/...re5765-341.jpg.

Click on diagram to blow up.

If turn signals work when the engine is running, that eliminates everything from the turn signal switch back (brake lights go through t turn signal switch).
