1970-72 fender question and later wheel fairing question.
I have some rust free 1970 Firebird 350 fenders and some later TA fenders. Someone said the early TA fenders are selling for up to $1500. Is that true? Can I just use the inner fenders and mate them with rust free outer fenders and make a set of rust free fenders worth up to $3000?
Also, are the wheel spatz/fender fairings from a 79-81 car correct fit for the 70-72 cars? Thanks, Doug. |

personally I think the 1500 price is probably NOS , bogus or somebody really wanting a set (outlier). if they are anywhere near that, I have a set (2) for that if some body wants them.
if your mate the two together, I doubt you will see anywhere near that amount b/c anyone (if someone did) were to pay that amount, they would need to be perfect 'from the factory' speciments. i think it is a lot of work on your end to do that. also the part numbers would be different which are stamped on the inner portion of the fender. |

You're saying that the inner fender of an early Firebird fender has a different stamping than an early TA fender? It makes sense, but just want to be sure.

last set i saw on ebay were bid to 4000 and didn't hit reserve.the 70-72 trans am fenders have a different upper brace welded on(easiest way to explain it).there was a guy trying to cut out the spot welds on 70-72 firebird fenders and weld them up to good later trans am fenders.if done right there is still away to tell, but if done wrong things will not line up.
