I think there has been alot of talk about this and no one has seem to find out a factory paint code. I have always used the code 50 Solar Gold that they painted the '78 Gold SE cars and it has been very close. If you used that I don't think you would get any arguments that it was the "wrong" color since no one seems to know what the right color is anyways.

Here's a good post concerning the gold color on TAC, http://transamcountry.com/community/...p?topic=2774.0

I used that same Dupont code when I painted my turbo wheels, and even though it is the correct factory code for the wheels, it is slightly off from the decals, Jason over at TAC uses the Chrysler paint and says it matches perfectly.

The original paint codes for Snowflakes are from the 70's & as with most other paint codes of that era, thery don't translate/change up to the current modern paint systems.

Best thing to do is find a NICE original (un-uved) example & have your color matched to it.

Check out my Y88 snowflake auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ME:L:LCA:MT:11

I quoted this thread in the description.

I also listed the center caps:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=180286956762

The auction brought up a firearms warning from e-Bay. Maybe it was the Round Caps wording.

The 76 anniversary gold is to red I have sprayed it out and saw a car at the Ban One show this past weekend. He had his wheels painted about 20 years ago and then had his grills and headlight bezels painted recently the don't match up the wheels are correct and the trim has more red in it. I am trying to find the right gold also. Here is a wheel I painted with code 50 and a different gold tell me which is closer.
Code 50

another gold

I think the second one looks more correct personally but the Solar Gold looks more appealing.

The second one is the color I remember having on my 78 WS6 car.
