Default Y88 Cali built cars, Y88 stamped on data tag?

Every Norwood built car I've seen has Y88 stamped on the data tag. Looked at one today that is most likely a Y88 auto car. Van Nyes (sp) plant built car but didn't say Y88 on tag. Tag even looked a little bit different than what Im used to. I know a ton of the Y82 and Y84 cars aren't stamped. Looking for some info...

Correct, the Norwood cars typically DID get the designation, Van Nuys cars did not. My Y88/4 spd Van Nuys car does NOT have the Y88 on the cowl tag.

There is just no guarantee that it was stamped at all. Beyond the rule of thumb of "one plant certain years *usually* had a stamp and the other plant did not" there isn't much to do about it. Just get the PHS paperwork and be sure ;-)
