Default WTB- 455 short block.

Just looking to see if anyone has anything they'd sell.
My LeMans had really low oil pressure when I pulled it out for the first time of the season today. Looks like 14 seasons of racing and general abuse have finally caught up to it.

Anyhow looking for a 455 or stroker 400 short block to throw in so I don't lose the season waiting for the machine shop to get to it.
Ideally, it would be balanced, have good rods and pistons and be recently freshened. Disassembled is ok as long as all machining is done.
I'll use my cam, heads, intake, etc. for a stock appearing 450-500 hp motor.

What have you got?

Also, while I'm asking for everything, being located in the Northeast would be good, so I can pick it up vs. having to ship.

Would consider a complete motor, but the short block is all I need.

No racers out there with a backup short block they'd be willing to part with?

I have a complete "backup motor". But I just found metal shavings in the oil filter of the 70. So I'll be swapping motors soon.
Every dedicated racer should have a backup. And I've seen you race .................quite well .

Ron, I have a couple of motors that I had other plans for... but if I have to, one could go in the Lemans. If I don't find something good soon, that'll happen. Just looking to see if anything good is out there...

And someday, if I'm lucky, I'll be as good as you.

I have a 1970 455 with #64 heads motor is rebuilt but with stock rods. It’s clean and ready to install. I didn’t respond to your post because you wanted aftermarket rods. I’m asking $3500.00 for this one.

I have a 428 4-bolt shortblock that’s still together but I would sell it as a good core $1000.00

I have a 400 block with splayed billet caps. Fully balanced rotating assembly. Nice parts. Billet 6.8 4340 rods, Ross 4.155 FTs with file fit ring, tool steel pins, locks. Eagle 4.25 crank. This has all the race bearings, BOP seal.
All that it needs from a machine shop is bored and decked, not much really. This block is hard blocked too. Miloden main studs, ARP 2000 rod bolts.

Had some nasty weather go through up here last week. Kinda took the car stuff a notch down in priority. Just starting to get back to normal-ish. Still no internet for another week and my phone only works in certain places.

68hotbird- that sounds like what I'm looking for, where are you located?

If you prefer new, here's the cheapest decent one I know of.

http://lenwilliamsautomachine.com/455_Short_Block.html

I've never bought one, but Len gets good reviews from most. Others say his prices are too cheap to be good quality. I'll leave that discussion for others.

Yes, I've seen the Len Williams shortblock. Seems like a great deal, if I don't get anything else worked out soon I may go that route.

68hotbird- sending you a pm.
Not able to check in all the time- still no internet and sketchy cell service. Got to the job site early today, just so I could catch up on emails!
