Cool project. A lot of work there but what you've done has been great. Keep it going!

Looks good, if you change the back wheels, you can send the rally 1's to me, LOL. Nice progress. If your gonna street drive this beast, you might consider changing the
front control arms to get more caster. Something like global west or similar. Have Global west on my 64 and has 4.5* caster, drives nice on the highway.

Today the girl got her shoes on finally. But in order to do that I had to pull off all the rear disc brake stuff and install the drum brakes. Luckily I still had a box of rusty old parts that came off the car and was able to clean up what I needed but got new shoes, wheel cylinders and a hardware kit from my local oreillys. Keep in mind this is only the second time I've ever done drum brakes and was only going off pictures I could find online but I got it together and slapped on the old drums and I'm a happy camper. I also swapped to a 67 gto master cylinder for disc/drum setup.

The wheels are georgeuos!!! I could not be happier with the wheel vintiques rally 1s and trim rings / center caps along with the BFG radial T/As. They really fit the car so well!

I feel like I'm making good progress and after the 5 years I've owned the car it's about time!

10/18 Update
Haven't got a whole lot doen these last 2 weeks but have made some progress and that still counts. Lol.

So the car came with essentially a parts lot of 3 different cars they pulled parts off. Which is great but when i.need something inhave to find it and then find the best one and then spend hours cleaning and painting every fricken part. Ugh.

The car will not be painted for a while. I will definitely be driving it in primer with it needing body work and paint but I am just fine with that. I want a really good paint because in my opinion no paint looks better than bad paint. But as I'm putting together the interior I figured I'd spray the dash gloss black to.clean it up some. I was looking for rustoleum professional gloss black but couldn't find it locally, so I decided to try the new turbo cans a try... bad idea. This paint is awful, while it does spray a lot, it has terrible orange peel and honestly sprays too thick. But the dash can be sanded and painted again but I think it's good enough for this round. Most of the dash gets covered anyways and if I get possessed I can color sand and buff it.

I spent a fair amount of time cleaning up and repainting the dash housing. I used the chrome paint pens for the bezels and I think it looks great. Then I realized this is a non ac dash and I found the AC heater controls and so I grabbed the dremel.and started cutting. Went slow and was pretty happy with it. Repainted the ac controller and it looks pretty good not going for show quality on any of this but was a cleaned up driver quality.

Next item was to cut the firewall for the American autowire new harness with updated ATO style fuse block. This went just fine but I don't think I took any pics.

There were a couple of other things but I do suck at taking before and after pics. Dug through my parts and found the grab handle and dash plate and it cleaned up nicely. The ashtray was disgusting but I wire wheeled it and set it in evaporust and it's definitely usable now.

Amd lastly was throwing in the engine.and trans so I can figure out where to cut the hole for the super cool super shifter 3. And boy did it need a lot of cutting and pounding! This isn't the actual engine for the car, I built this one out of mostly spare parts for my buddies car but now it's a race to see who needs it first. It's a 350 with the valve notched block, 16 big valve heads, spare HS 1.65 rockers, summit 2801 cam, and spare parts. I'm going to swap on a spare Eddy performer rpm intake and an avs2 650 carb. It probably won't be great but should be fun enough while I build my stroker.

I am thinking of pulling the 2801 cam out of the 350 and sticking a 2800 in it. I think I may have been a little too ambitious when I ordered the cam originally but I think the 2800 with 1.65 rockers should be fine. Thoughts anyone?

Well it kinda depends on the rear end gears. A 350 can use a bit of cam if you have enough gear.

The 1969 350 HO came with the 068 in stick shift cars so the 2801 isn’t much more than that.

Skimming back through your thread I see you haven’t mentioned what trans type or rear gear you’re using.

3.36 gears with a muncie m20 trans. Maybe if I advance it 4 degrees it will be happier?

I would advance it a bit like you’re thinking.

Thanks B-man. I'm still thinking a 2800 might be better, the compression when I calculated it was high 8s I believe and since I only have 1.65 rockers that doesn't help. If I had a set of 1.5 rockers for a 7/16 stud then I'd probably stick with the 2801 amd just advance it like you said. But that's a later me problem.

Right now I'm having a heck of a time finding seat brackets that fit. Or trim rings for the front that match the back.

I would have to agree that the 2800 cam is a better choice.

Too bad nobody makes an accurate reproduction of the 067 cam.

Well I ordered a 2800 cam for the 350. I think it will be good and the 1.65 rockers will liven it up a bit. I'll just throw the 2801 on my shelf.

Weekly update
Wasn't able to get a lot done this week but I found a fair condition 66 radio that I cleaned up and temp installed just for looks. I doubt it works but I only paid $50 and will complete the dash. I most likely will hide a modern stereo under the seat or in the glovebox bown the road. I also got a sweet 8 track player that will look bitch'n lol. I think it will complete the day 2 style build I'm going for.

I was able to install the cheap summit headers and I have to say I'm impressed. They fit remarkably well and I cant remember the price but they were the cheapest option.

And that's about it, the 2800.cam.showed up today so I'll get that swapped over soon as well.

Nice work! The radio looks good. I wish I had gone that route rather than paying over $700 for the correct appearing modern unit from AAR. Wasn't worth it.

Have you test fitted your steering column with the headers installed? Clearance with the driver side center tubes and steering column are often where "adjustments" need to be made with some headers.

Thanks Ham! Thank you for reaffirming my plan on the radio, good to hear because I was looking at those units as well. I forgot about the column but your probably right. That's ok though I'll *cough "adjust the fitment" when I put the column in. But the beauty of cheap headers is my concern for them is very little.
