1955 hood chrome
I removed the chrome strips from a 1955 Chieftain hood so the hood could be painted. The chrome is fastened to the hood by about 12 strange twist clips per strip. When I removed them most just crumbled. I have never seen any for sale so what do other people use to replace them? I can't be the only person who has had this problem.

Try an Auto Paint store. They generally have a wide variety of attachment clips. I've replaced several attachment clips on my '56 purchased from an Auto Paint store. Go in and look around at what they have, you might find other things you could use in the future.

Thanks but I've tried. They are like nothing I have ever seen.

I would consider converting to the 56 style, they have studs on the clips in the trim and just bolts down thru the hood. Either weld something to your clips or maybe some 56 trim clips and use those instead.

Try looking here: https://www.clipsandfasteners.com I'd be surprised if they have the actual clip used on 1955/1956 Pontiac hood chrome, but there may be something in their catalog that will work.
