They were common in the '50s when the dealer network was growing rapidly.

After Knudsen was named general manager, the indian head went away from a lot of promo materials.

I'm fairly sure Penn Sign was a vendor to Pontiac for those signs, you probably got one when you signed your dealer agreement.

Hutchinson Pontiac in Rouses Point, NY on Pratt St. had that same sign on their building up to '91 when they closed. The owner passed away and the dealership was sold. I believe they started selling Pontiacs back in the late 40s, and only Pontiacs. Sorry but I don't have any photos of it on their building. That's the dealer I bought my 79 Formula from.

This sign was in Pottsville, Pa. They just closed shop when Pontiac went out. Don't know what happen to the sign.

Not exactly the same but this one was at Boomershine Pontiac in downtown Atlanta for several decades. Later moved with the dealership (Under a new name) to Marietta. I took this pic 7 or 8 years ago. I hear the sign is in private hands now.
As you can see, it's quite large.

I posted it on PY before...it came from an old, very rare original dealer catalog I own in collection.

GM/PMD would dictate how the signage was laid out based on demographic variables...

Larger market would get the shot at the nicer signs....its all in the catalog from 2010:

Greg, upon review, its in the area of the forum that is easily overlooked.

I asked twice if we could have a dedicated section on the forum to be setup that focused on Pontiac Factory/Dealer historic items, but powers that be felt the Collectibles For Sale or Collectibles Wanted area was enough.

No big deal, its not my site so I understood the reasons might not be aligned with mine...

However, I really regret not putting all of this "stuff" up somewhere to allow others to see some of the more interesting Factory or Dealer items.....I still have hundreds of items but losing interest...would rather hunt or fish with my kids...lol

I actually miss a lot on the forums I'm afraid. I got into the habit of clicking on 'New Posts' instead of doing what I used to do, which was going down through the threads from top to bottom and picking what was interesting.
I don't think the collectables section gets very much attention either. I put some really nice old "Special Edition" Motors Manuals in there and I doubt that it got more than a couple dozen views...Just couldn't think of a better place to advertise them.

Those old motors manuals "used" to sell well on ebay, seemed to have a strong demand.

Havent looked at them lately though.

I have a shelf full of old Delco manuals and hard sided master parts/cross catalogs...I know those values have really dropped.
