Default 1966 Tiger Gold GTO Restoration Resumes

I thought there was a place for restoration threads here, if I'm in the wrong place please move this.

Anyway, I started this restoration 7 years ago and the tread I started then seems to be gone. after 7 years at 2 different paint shops it's finally pained and waiting to be cut and buffed. I cannot believe how hard it is to get a car painted these days it's basically ended my desire to do another.

I bought this car from the widow of the owner who bought it in 1967. it's a totally rust free Tiger Gold TriPower 4spd hardtop made in the Fremont plant in Feb 1966. it spent it's life in a garage in salt free Oregon.

I like restoration pictures so I'll post a few of before, during and after for those who are interested. it's a really simple restoration so there's not a lot of impressive work being done the car was almost a survivor had it not been altered a little for drag racing.

I'm going to have to figure the picture thing out better this site is tough.

A heavy restoration of a Tiger Gold 1966 was posted by me about 19 years ago on this site- Its called the road to restoration is long, and not for the faint of heart. It actually turned out to be about 6 months from start to finish

You're right, thanks I'll return this to that thread.

I don't remember having trouble with pictures back then something must have changed. I'll try again.

So after 7 years it's done and coming home this week. just waiting for a break in the weather I don't want to chain up to go get it.

it's been so long I don't remember if my E brake works or not, does the crossmember have to be in place? on my Camaro it does I don't remember on the GTO. my brakes were all redone, so it'll work if it doesn't need the crossmember. it would be nice for hauling it if it worked but not essential.

I'm happy with the '79 Solar Gold color choice. more bling than the Tiger Gold but not so much it looks cheezy.

The crossmember has to be in place to hold the e brake cable hook. Won't work without it.
