2003 grand am dashlights won't come on
Hello everyone,
I don't know where else to put this so if anyone could redirect me to a better sub it would be greatly appreciated. My dashlights won't come on for some reason, I've changed the fuse and even checked to make sure that it wasn't a blown fuse, but nothing seems to work. All my other lights work fine on the dash just the speedometer doesn't light up so I can't see it at night. Could it possibly be the bulbs themselves are blown or am I missing something here? |

My daughter had all kinds of electrical gremlins in her 2004 Grand Am. Finally when she replaced the ignition switch (the same deal of the recall) most of it was solved. She was carrying tool much crap on her key ring and the weight of it caused the premature failure.

Old school headlight switches used to have a variable resistor that would adjust the dash lights from bright to dim and vise versa.
The switch in my brother's '78 Grand Lemans got baked so the dash lights wouldn't work at all until I found another switch from a salvage yard. I'm not sure if the modern headlight switches work the same way or not, but just throwing that out here as something you might check. They may utilize a seperate dimmer control for the dashlights/dome light. I would see if I could easily pull out the speedo to check the bulbs though. |
