67 GTO wiper arm removal
I read in several other threads about removing the wiper arm. And many suggested the special tool. So I have one now.
I've tried but can't get it to release from the post. Several people talked about the clip that holds the arm to the post. But HOW do you release the clip?? Push in to release? I tried but doesn't seem to move. Pull out to release? Very difficult to get needlenose pliers on the small clip. |

Finally got it off. But using only special tool and more wiggling and force than I was using before.
I forgot to take a picture with the arm removed but i believe the clip kinda had a spring action method holding the arm on the post... and not a 'slide in' or 'slide out' movement. Correct me if I'm wrong. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

You are right. All you need is the tool and a little effort.

Yes, the retaining/locking tab needs to be depressed for easier arm release.
The common (Beer Can Style) tool works but you still need to lift the tab. A plastic trim tool/putty knife can work. If your arms have not been off in some time and/or have paint on the splines this can make releasing them a real PITA. There is a better tool out there more like a plier. These are a bit pricy for a good set and beware there are many knock-offs that do not fit the spline shaft. Once off it's best to check the inner splines on the arm to be sure they are not corroded and/or stripped. Also, look closely at the arm sprint these are known to rust and snap.

My tool has always been flat head screwdriver to move the clip down, then clay hammer with rag to pry the arm up. The rag protects the paint and the arm.

I use the tool Jeff posted. Gently roach the arm to release the pressure and they come right off.

Exactly. Definitely not a screw driver or a claw hammer
