Instrument Specialties
I chose to use these guys to restore my dash and ralley gauges. I even found a NOS woodgrain insert that they are using. I shipped it out April 4 of last year, they had an expected arrival of Sept to possibly Oct. After a year I still don't have it although it sounds like its close to being done.
Has anyone else used them or currently waiting on a dash to be restored? I assume Covid is the cause of the delay or not? They seem to do good work and the owner is a Pontiac guy. Anyone have any input would be great. Need my dash!

I used them to refurb my '68 Lemans speedo with speed-warning. I did not have it restored as I wanted to keep it original. Cleaned up the face/odometer numbers, I kept original mileage and did not zero it out, repainted the indicator, disassembled/lubed the mechanics, calibrated, did some work to get the speed warning from grounding out, tested the speed warning for function, ie electrical testing, but not with an actual "buzzer."
I did not have any of the chrome small parts replated. Yes, it took some time to get it back. I personally picked my gauge up as my brother has a business in the same business park. They simply have a lot of work - happens when you are good and people learn of your quality. Just be patient. I am happy with the work. |

Few years back I had them restore my 67 GTO dash. Took about 4-5 months if I remember correctly. Well worth the wait. It was perfect. Just before Covid I had them calibrate a fuel gauge for me. Reads spot on now. That took about 3 weeks. A lot of big money restorations come out of there. I met the owner on my first visit and got a shop tour. Very impressed. I'm sure they are busy. Hang in there, you'll be happy with the results I'm sure.

I used them as well. Nothing but raise for this company.
They take months and aren’t cheap But if you want the very best end result like I do then it’s worth it And BTW Pete Serio from Precision Pontiac Is just as good I only used Instrument Specialties because the completion time was quicker. Pete is certainly another well respected option. |
