Talking "Customer states"

Some bad language...but funny.

As years go by I see more and more clueless people when it comes to their automobile.

They are more concerned about their handheld gadgets than what takes them everywhere.

The above video confirms this. LOL 😂

Thanks for sharing.

At one time my brother worked in a service station that also sold used cars. If they got one in with a noisy (worn) engine, they would stuff a banana or two into the oil fill.

Ha! But why do they mount that ugly spare on the back of the Honda when there is a well in the back for one?

I been hanging out at this tire shop and buying tires there for geez 50yrs at least. Anyway I hear the stories. Original owner sold to a worker he had it till 2yrs ago, sold to relatives. They have 'weeded' out the trouble. John use to say once you start on a car you 'marry' it with all its and owners troubles. One lady bought tires from well known big chain store. She had John mount them, they were 2 sizes too small and were 5yrs old new, but got good price. I read the codes. Another guy brought used tires in to have them 'just' mounted. Later he came back,'what did you guys do to my alignment?' Those are ones that I had to laugh.

I've seen several oil changes like those over the years. Amazing how people can get mad at you for finding a problem you have nothing to do with too.

I worked in a shop when I was younger . I remember a guy coming in with a van for our $9.99 oil change sale. (This WAS a long time ago!). He was bragging about how he hadn’t changed his oil for over 30,000 miles. Haha.
We had to use an air chisel to spin off his oil filter, after trying huge channel locks, driving a screw driver through it, ect. He wasn’t laughing when the boss charged him an hourly rate for labor.

I work at a parts counter. When the part they need just isn't available they just stare and usually say "Well, what am I gonna do now?" Hey I'm not your therapist.

Had an old man come in yesterday, His daughter put power steering fluid in the brake master, you know the one that says DOT 3 only. He wanted a bleeder wrench, couldn't tell me anything except it was a "Nissan" He said the brakes were acting weird. This is like the third or fourth time I've had people say the put the wrong fluid in something.

I've been looking for those stories. Shame about the one with no oil but new filter at big oil change place. Got 40 miles before motor locked up.alwsys check oil afterwards he said.I just told a guy,Fred, I volunteer with. His family owned a car ,truck repair shop forever. He said 2 stories, guy needed trans medic for automatic, he put it in the power steering pump! Wanted to know what would happen? His dad said we don't know you'll be the first to know. 2nd guy said his car needed alignment.he put on new idler link -upside down.

Working on vehicles for a living can be a thankless job for sure. One of the worst case situations is a customer who decides to begin maintaining his vehicle when it already has 120-150K miles on it from previous owners. Then all of a sudden this new owner is maintaining it for the first time. It's just too late at that point! The rings are already stuck, the timing chain tensioners are already plugged up, the cam phasers and cylinder deactivation actuators are frozen, valve guides and cams worn. Now doing an oil change only aggravates the situation. Never ends well.

Even doing it for yourself and helping others is too. Every time I've helped someone out on their car they've always stiffed me on parts or labor or both. Then they complain 9 out of 10 times that it either took too long or cost too much. They never get helped again obviously, I just say "sounds bad, better take it to a shop!"

I had a guy come in once after doing his own pad slap. He put the new pads in metal side to the rotor.

Had an old guy put power steering fluid in a master. Car had about three thousand miles on it. It was brand new! I had to replace every single thing in the brake system that rubber it. Sorry no warranty...
